Twinning Evening, Biberach
It has become a tradition that at the beginning of the year the Biberach Twinning Association invite their active members, about 70 this year, to a Thank You Evening, and each time a different committee is responsible for the setup. On January 21, 2011, it was the Biberach Friends of Guernsey who were to organise the room, the decoration, the food and drinks and, of course, the clearing up afterwards. The main course and the drinks were supplied by caterers, but we decided to add some Guernsey touches, as the following photos may reveal.

The first arrivals saw the room in its pristine glory - crab apple twigs with spring flowers for table decorations

Bean Jar made in Helga Reiser’s kitchen. Haricot and Butter Beans were bought in Guernsey.

A Bean Jar portion as a starter. We needed all the 70 prepared plates.

The Tipsy Trifle recipe came from Marguerite Paul’s ‘Island Kitchen’ . One recipe and 9 variations - more or less tipsy, all tasted different, but great. In the background: a tray with buttered slices of Guernsey Gache - a special import due to the generosity of the German Honorary Consul Chris Betley.

The nine trifles being inspected - Eberhard Göhner and Else Grell in the back.

Digging in - there were hardly any leftovers!

Marguerite Paul’s Book. She gave us a wonderful evening during Guernsey Week in October 2009. However, lacking Guernsey butter, we dare not make our own Gache.
