Guernsey Friends of Biberach

Newsletter, March 2006

April 23rd, the day of our AGM is approaching once again and I would like to let you know what has been happening and what our future plans are.

In September 2005 a group of police cadets and officers from Biberach came to Guernsey to present us with the model of Camp Lindele that the police cadets had built in their own time. They were well looked after by members of our police force and we hope that this link between the Biberach and Guernsey police forces will continue to develop.

Last summer one student from Ladies College attended the annual intensive German course that Biberach offers to youngsters from their various partner towns. Once more this year Guernsey youngsters are invited to come to Biberach for this one-week-course from July 8th to 16th. This is a wonderful opportunity and if you know of anyone who might be interested, do let us know.

The St Martin’s Boys Choir from Biberach is planning to come to Guernsey once more. They will be in the Island from 6th to 8th August. Two concerts are planned, Sunday night they will be singing at St Stephen’s Church and Monday night in the Town Church. We will be needing accommodation for 50 choir members between 8 and 25 years of age. If you are able to accommodate youngsters for the two nights, please get in touch.

We have also been invited to come to Biberach for a one-week-visit during the second half of September. Our Biberach friends always make us very welcome and organise a varied programme. If you haven’t been to Biberach yet this would be a chance for you to experience our friends’ hospitality. Of course those of you who have already been to Biberach are also welcome to return.
